Nyesom Wike stands firm on his decision to back Tinubu, alleging that his political rivals accepted funds from Atiku during the elections.

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, expressed that he has no regrets about backing President Bola Tinubu over Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, in the 2023 elections.

Wike stated that several of his adversaries received funds from Atiku to challenge him, yet they were all unsuccessful.

On Friday, he delivered a speech at the New Year luncheon he hosted at his country home in Obio-Akpor.

Wike stated, “I don’t regret supporting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his election victory.”

All these people causing a commotion, they warned Atiku that they’d oppose him. How can those who once declared Fubara couldn’t be governor or speak publicly now claim they’ll support him in 2027?

In the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election, Wike, who was serving as governor of Rivers State at that time, endorsed Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wike declined to support Atiku because of the leadership crisis within the PDP.
