All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Senator Abdulahi Ganduje has stated that the party’s leadership will release a plan to grow the party’s membership.

After a meeting with Simon Lalong, the previous governor of Plateau State, in private on Wednesday, Ganduje made this disclosure.

He further clarified that Nyesom Wike, the recently-departed governor of Rivers State, had not come to his Abuja home to join the ruling party as had been widely reported.

However, the chairman conceded that the party’s chances in 2027 would increase if a politician like Wike joined the opposition.

He asserted, “It will unquestionably increase our party’s chances, particularly in 2027.

“You know Wike is an honourable minister-designate, so he came, we discussed because I was looking for him to commend him for that and also he came to commend me, and we discussed that when he becomes minister fully, he will work very hard in order to move the ministry he is giving and he is ready to cooperate,” said Ganduje.

“However, we didn’t talk about the subject of his joining or leaving the APC. That problem will come up later.

“On top of that, we’re releasing a new strategy to grow the party’s membership, which will apply to all levels of officials, both those who belong to the APC and those who belong to other political parties.

“I can promise you that a number of political groups will soon join forces with the APC, if not already. That is what we are doing covertly.

Lalong had earlier claimed to be in the secretariat of the party to congratulate Ganduje and determine how to assist him in leading the organisation.

In reality, when we look at his ancestors, we always say he is the longest-experienced politician we have inside us, he said, “As the national chairman, Ganduje was governor. Because of his extensive tenure in the civil service, he rose to the positions of permanent secretary, commissioner, longest-serving deputy governor, and governor. What more could you possibly need in party affairs with this kind of experience?
