In a viral video, social media personality VeryDarkMan apologizes for wearing a police uniform, addressing backlash and clearing up intentions.
Social commentator Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has issued an apology to the Nigeria Police Force for wearing a police uniform in one of his recent videos.
Earlier this week, the police condemned his unauthorized wearing of the uniform and revealed they had initiated an investigation into the issue.
In the video, VeryDarkMan showed up in a police uniform and playfully introduced himself as the “Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) for the Online Division.”
In response to public criticism, he released a video on Thursday expressing his regret for wearing clothing that resembled official police attire.
VeryDarkMan also encouraged Nigerians to seek proper authorization before wearing police uniforms in order to prevent potential misunderstandings or legal issues.
He stated, “I’ve just returned from the police station where I was questioned about a post in which I wore an outfit that the authorities argue resembles their uniform.”
I sincerely apologize to the Nigeria Police Force and the Office of the Inspector General of Police for any unintentional impersonation. It was not my intention, and I extend my heartfelt apologies without reservation.
I would like to take this opportunity to advise the general public to always obtain permission from law enforcement agencies or the police before wearing anything resembling their uniform.
“While your intentions might be positive, others could potentially misuse it. Therefore, it’s wise to secure complete approval before using anything that may appear deceptive or impersonating. Big thanks to @nigeriapoliceforce and a shout out to my lawyer @adeyanjudeji for always being prepared to support.”
