Uzodimma expresses his satisfaction with the peacefulness of the election in Imo while accepting his Certificate of Return

With 540,308 votes, the APC candidate defeated his nearest competitors, Anyanwu of the PDP (71,503) and Achonu of the LP (64,081).

Following last Saturday’s governorship election, Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, received his certificate of return on Friday in Owerri, the state capital.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was commended by the governor in his speech for “conducting the freest, fairest, and most peaceful election in the history of Imo State.”

After collating the local government area (LGA) results for more than eight hours on Sunday morning, at ten in the morning, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, the vice chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, and the state returning officer, proclaimed Uzodimma re-elected.

Uzodimma, 64, defeated Jack Ogunewe of the Action Alliance, Nneji Achonu of the Labour Party, Samuel Anyanwu of the People Democratic Party (PDP), and fourteen other opponents by winning all 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.
