UNICAL students freed by DSS and Police after being kidnapped

The police authorities in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, have officially announced the successful rescue of the three students who were abducted approximately three weeks ago.

According to Irene Ugbo, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Cross River State Police Command, the students were found and rescued just a few hours ago in a creek located in Calabar.

Ugbo emphasized that no ransom was paid for their release, highlighting the diligent collaboration between the police and the Department of State Security (DSS) in ensuring the safe recovery of the students.

She expressed her satisfaction in confirming that the three University of Calabar students, who had been held captive for over two weeks, have now been freed.

The gunmen who had forcefully entered the university campus had initially demanded a sum of N14 million before eventually releasing the students.
