Uncollected Passports: Over 112,000 in 36 States, FCT – NIS

According to Adepoju, the service cleared all 204,332 backlogs in passport applications after receiving a two-week ultimatum from the interior minister last month.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the 36 states of the federation have yet to receive 112,351 passport booklets, according to Mrs. Wura-Ola Adepoju, the acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Adepoju noted that the number was accurate as of October 5 when he spoke on Thursday at a press conference held at the service headquarters in Abuja.

According to her, the service cleared all 204,332 backlogs in passport applications after receiving a two-week ultimatum from last month’s interior minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Adepoju claims that 91,981 passport booklets have already been gathered.

The NIS director asked candidates to go to their specific application centres to pick up the necessary travel documents.
