UCL Draw: Liverpool Set for PSG Showdown, Real Madrid Face Atletico in Round of 16
The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 draw is set—Liverpool will take on PSG, while Real Madrid faces a fierce derby against Atletico. Exciting clashes ahead!
Liverpool is set to face off against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the eagerly awaited Champions League Round of 16, as confirmed by Friday’s official draw.
The Reds, finishing first in the 36-team league phase, earned an automatic place in the last 16. Meanwhile, PSG advanced by decisively defeating Brest with a cumulative score of 10-0 over their two-legged play-off tie.
The first match is planned for March 4 or 5 at Parc des Princes in Paris, followed by the second leg at Anfield a week later.
The two clubs last faced each other in the group stage of the 2018/19 Champions League, with PSG securing a 2-1 victory at home following Liverpool’s earlier 3-2 win in England.
In another captivating matchup, reigning champions Real Madrid will face their city rivals Atletico Madrid, echoing the finals of 2014 and 2016 where Los Blancos emerged victorious both times.
Bayern Munich is set to compete against their German rivals Bayer Leverkusen. Meanwhile, Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven, and Inter Milan are scheduled to clash with Feyenoord, the team that recently eliminated AC Milan in the play-offs.
Barcelona will take on Benfica, whom they defeated 5-4 in Lisbon during the league phase last month.
Aston Villa is set to play against Club Brugge, after already experiencing a loss in an away match against the Belgian team during the league phase.
Last season’s runner-up, Borussia Dortmund, will face the French team Lille.
