Trump: ‘OK’ with Facing Potential Jail Term, Remarks Spark Controversy
Former US President Donald Trump has expressed his acceptance of the possibility of serving jail time or being placed under house arrest due to his 34 convictions for falsifying business records.
He made these comments during an interview with Fox News that aired on Sunday. Trump mentioned that he is prepared for any punishment that may come his way.
Despite his readiness, he acknowledged that the public may not view the situation lightly. In the interview, Trump also mentioned that his legal team advised against such consequences, but he remains firm in his stance.
He believes that his supporters would not tolerate any harsh penalties imposed on him. Trump also reiterated his belief that the case against him, particularly regarding alleged payments to Stormy Daniels and falsified paperwork, is politically motivated.
He accused the Justice Department and the FBI of weaponizing the situation against him. Following his conviction on all 34 counts, Trump’s legal team plans to appeal the decision.
He remains confident that the ultimate judgment will be made by the public during the upcoming election. Trump’s sentencing is scheduled for July 11, just before the Republican National Convention, making him the first US president to be convicted of a felony.
