The Nigerian Army’s troops have eliminated a number of bandits in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area.

According to the report, numerous bandits, including some of their leaders, were successfully neutralised by Operation Whirl Punch forces through synchronised ground and airstrikes at a designated meeting site close to the Bula hamlet in Yadi Forest in Giwa LGA.

Following the recent removal of some bandit kingpins along the Kaduna-Katsina border areas, Samuel Aruwan, overseeing commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, confirmed the report in a statement. He said that feed received showed that the strike was based on credible intelligence.

“The intelligence report had previously disclosed that bandits were scheduled to gather in the vicinity to undertake a lethal mission inside the general vicinity of Yadi Forest.

According to the statement, “close monitoring was conducted, and at the scheduled time, the bandits were sighted approaching the location on motorcycles with guns.”

He claimed that additional investigation verified the bandits’ actions and their gathering at a hub in the area as a group of seven to ten people.

“After verification, the location was hit, and it was confirmed that the strike had neutralised a large number of bandits, among them Alhaji Kachalla Ragas, an ally and childhood friend of the previously neutralised Buharin Yadi.”
