Two cousins, Damilola Famoriyo, 34, and Akinbayo Emmanuel Abiodun, 31, were detained by Ogun State police on February 9, 2023, for allegedly stealing Amos Oyemechi Chuckwuka of his tricycle.
According to reports, the suspect also murdered the victim and dumped his body at Ijebu-Ode on a riverbank.
A dead body, later determined to be that of the tricycle rider, was discovered near the river in the Agoro region of Ijebu Ode on December 13, 2022, according to information police officers at the Obalende division of Ijebu Ode received. This led to the arrest.
Detectives were dispatched to the area by SP Murphy Salami, the DPO of the Obalende division, after receiving the information. There, they found that the dead had been killed with a machete and then his tricycle had been driven away.
The DPO assigned his top squad to launch a forensic investigation in order to identify individuals responsible, according to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police spokesman for Ogun State.

On February 9, Famoriyo, a resident of Awosan Fakale in Ikorodu, Lagos State, was captured with the deceased’s phone, according to Oyeyemi, who said their efforts had been successful.
According to information obtained by Obasanjonews24, Famoriyo’s detention resulted in the arrest of his cousin who lived in Block A of Maya, Ikorodu, and who was his collaborator.
The two suspects confessed to the crime after being questioned. They admitted in their statements that they were a two-man syndicate that targeted the Ijebu-Ode region and had a particular expertise in stealing bikes and tricycles, the man added.
The victim was persuaded to transport the victim’s farm products from the Agoro area to the town on December 13 after they agreed on a price, according to Oyeyemi’s account of the suspect’s confession.
Nevertheless, as he reached the Agoro/Ikangba Road, they stopped him and took his tricycle away. They killed the dead by mashing him to death with a machete and then dragged his body to the edge of the river, it was said.
The suspect claimed to have stolen up to eight tricycles in the Ijebu-Ode area, and that their standby purchasers live in Ikorodu.
Even as Police Commissioner Frank Mba ordered the suspects to be sent to State CIID for a covert investigation, the police had found two of the victim’s phones and the cutlass that had been used to kill him.
