Three ASEPA officials were assassinated by cultists in Abia – Police

The murder of three ASEPA employees in Aba has been verified by the Abia State Police Command.

The deceased individuals were on duty when they were ambushed and slain by the alleged cultists on Friday, according to SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police Public Relations Officer.

The murders happened at Samek Junction on Faulks Road, which leads to Ariaria International Market in Aba.

The PPRO, who confirmed the occurrence, said that the victims were recognised as ASEPA employees who were on duty in the region, and that they were in a minibus before to the attack.

“They were attacked by persons who are thought to be cultists, although the name of their cult is not yet known,” he said.

“The people who were clad in black attacked their victims with axes, daggers, and machetes, killing Stanley Ejike and two other people whose identities have not yet been revealed.

“The fact that they were ASEPA employees was made clear by the ID card that was discovered on one of their bodies.

“Before the police arrived on the scene, the suspects had fled while still carrying their victims’ dead bodies that had been placed in the mortuary.

“An investigation into the matter has started. Individuals should give police other helpful information if they have knowledge that could result in the arrest of those responsible for the heinous act.

When investigations got underway, our correspondent learned that the remains of the ASEPA personnel were taken by police to the mortuary.

Before the police statement, there were rumours that the fatalities were bank employees, and some Faulks Road residents had suspected that the victims were police officers or unidentified gunmen.

Most store owners nearby the location of the deaths declined to open for business on Saturday afternoon when this reporter returned to the Samek junction area of Faulks Road out of concern for a police raid.

As of the time this news was filed, ASEPA had not yet made an official announcement confirming the deaths of their members.
