Esther Goday, a pregnant woman, has been apprehended by the Rivers State Police Command for the alleged murder of Mrs. Imeran Idema.

The incident occurred on January 28 in Agada village, Abua, Rivers State. Goday, a mother of nine, reportedly killed Idema after she tried to prevent her from escaping with a bunch of plantains.

In her desperation to feed her hungry children, Goday had entered the Idema family’s plantain plantation and was caught in the act by Mrs. Idema. Despite being warned to drop the plantains, Goday refused and attempted to flee.

A confrontation ensued, leading to Idema stabbing Goday in the leg with a machete. In retaliation, Goday attacked Idema with the same weapon, causing multiple injuries before leaving her bleeding in the plantation.

Upon seeing the injury on the leg of the eight-month pregnant woman, the police initially allowed her to return home for self-treatment, but she was rearrested two days later. Upon arriving at the police station, she received the devastating news of Imeran’s death.
