Tragic incident as man drowns in Ogun river

The unfortunate incident of Sunday Ogah drowning in Eyinwa River in Odogbolu Local Government Area has been officially confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command, as stated by SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson.

The incident occurred on a Saturday, and since then, police operatives along with local divers have been tirelessly searching the river for the young man’s body.

Odutola further elaborated that Ogah, originally from Benue State but residing in Ikorodu, Lagos State, had accompanied his friend, Otusanya Abayomi, to Eyinwa community in Odogbolu.

During their visit, Ogah reportedly went to the river without informing his friend and tragically drowned.

The report was made by Otusanya Abayomi at the Odogbolu Divisional Police Station, where he shared the details of the incident.

Despite efforts by surveillance officers and local divers to locate Ogah’s body, they were unsuccessful.

The police are continuing their search and are also planning to inform the family of the deceased about the heartbreaking event.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Alamutu, emphasized the importance of caution, especially for young individuals, warning them to avoid rivers with unpredictable depths.

He reassured the public that the police command is dedicated to ensuring public safety and preventing similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
