President Bola Tinubu emphasized the importance of achieving a decisive victory over the various security challenges facing the nation during a meeting with security chiefs and intelligence agency heads. He acknowledged the progress made in eliminating certain threats in different areas but stressed that true success would only be achieved when the multi-faceted menace is completely eradicated.
Tinubu highlighted the need to prioritize investments in both physical and soft infrastructure, social security, MSME empowerment, and other factors that contribute to growth. He also expressed concern over the collaboration between criminal elements and terrorist groups, which poses a significant threat to national security.
In the coming years, our goal is to achieve a $1 trillion economy, and it is crucial that we put an end to our progressive campaign against those who hinder progress. It is important to stay motivated, as the confidence of our people in your abilities is growing, and they are grateful for the sacrifices made by our men and women.
Undoubtedly, the success you have achieved is undeniable and visible to Nigerians. However, we cannot overlook the avoidable mistakes that have occurred, such as the recent incident in Kaduna. These errors are unacceptable and must not be repeated.
I am pleased to see that coordination among all agencies has significantly improved in recent months. However, we cannot celebrate until we achieve our ultimate goal. We must bring our troops back to their respective localities and allocate resources for our critical economic expansion program.
Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), stated that the President emphasized the importance of the armed forces delivering on his objective to ensure the nation’s sustainable production of two million barrels of crude oil per day, including condensates, by the first quarter of 2024.
Furthermore, the President made it clear that he takes his intelligence reports seriously and has multiple sources of information. He expects the Navy and other branches to step up their efforts to achieve our goals for the benefit of all Nigerians. Any individuals or groups working against the national agenda will face justice.
Your mission is clear, and we must maintain our momentum. Failure is not an option under my leadership.
The President also expressed his appreciation for the dedication and commitment of the Commander of the Presidential Air Fleet (PAF), the Commander of the Brigade of Guards (BoG), and his Chief Personal Security Officer (CPSO). Their exemplary performance has earned them promotions.
