Tinubu Reveals the Real Reason Behind Fuel Subsidy Removal
President Bola Tinubu explains why his administration removed the fuel subsidy, highlighting economic growth, reduced corruption, and national development. Read more on the impact and future plans.
President Bola Tinubu has emphasized that his choice to eliminate fuel subsidies is intended to safeguard the future of upcoming generations.
During the inauguration of the National Youth Congress Planning Committee at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu highlighted his administration’s dedication to empowering youth and implementing economic reforms.
He assured Nigerians that the government’s policies are strategically crafted to secure a prosperous and sustainable future for the nation.
He stated, “I have listened to you attentively. Today is not the day for lengthy speeches; I simply want to reassure you that you are the hope of our nation. Everything depends on your future, and every decision I’ve made focuses on tomorrow.”
By eliminating the oil subsidy, you’re safeguarding the future of upcoming generations and young people. The question is: where is the investment in infrastructure? Many professionals discuss leaving Nigeria because if there were growth and empowerment at home, they would choose to stay. When prosperity flourishes locally, it encourages people to remain in their homeland—this place should be developed, built up, and made prosperous for everyone involved.
“The government in power is fundamentally about serving you, so it’s important to take it seriously. While criticizing politicians might be common, politics primarily concerns development and the well-being of future generations. I’m pleased that you’re all here as a committee to inspire actions today, tomorrow, and beyond. I stand with you.”
Additionally, he mentioned: “When we began, everything seemed unclear and uncertain. We put in a lot of effort despite feeling like we were drawing water from an empty well. But today, the economy has improved; prices are decreasing, confidence is rising, investors are showing interest, and technology is progressing. You have the opportunity.”
I’ve heard your spokesperson’s comments, and you have a tremendous opportunity to advance this country’s development. The future is in your hands. My role is to assist by navigating challenges and easing significant burdens to help clear the path for you towards a bright future, but ultimately it rests with you.
Please face me and share any concerns or suggestions you have, as well as the way you’d like to see things done. We’ll strive to implement everything possible that contributes positively to our country’s prosperity.
I want to assure you that we are committed to doing everything possible to make Nigeria a better place for everyone. However, we can’t achieve this alone. You represent over 60 percent of our population and are the heartbeat of our nation. I hope you take this opportunity very seriously.
Launches Youth Conference Planning Committee
I am with you, and I say it once more. Thus, I officially establish the committee. Wishing you a fruitful and fascinating term ahead. Let’s leverage technology in every conceivable way, assess our farming practices closely, explore how we can uplift youth by harnessing their strong spirit, and strive towards achieving food sovereignty for our country.
“I like you. I may not be able to reclaim my youth, but perhaps in the next life I will get that chance. I’m envious of all of you.”
In his comments, Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, stated that the conference would be convened to enhance youth involvement.
Olawande observed that President Tinubu’s administration is receptive and prepared to listen, actively incorporating the ideas and contributions of young people into governance.
He mentioned that the members were meticulously chosen as representatives from the Federal Ministry of Finance, other relevant federal ministries, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the World Bank among others.
He stated that they were tasked with championing and planning the conference, which would influence the lives of Nigerian youth.
Samson Itodo, a key member of the youth conference planning committee and Executive Director of Yiaga Africa, praised President Tinubu for his dedication to acknowledging young people.
