Tinubu raises the pay of judicial officers, CJN will receive N64.7 million annually
The salary of Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, has been increased to N1.1 million monthly basic salary and N4.3 million regular allowances by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who proposed a bill to the National Assembly for the review of judicial officers’ salaries.
The House of Representatives has approved the bill, resulting in the CJN earning an annual basic salary of N13.5 million and N51.2 million in regular allowances, totaling N64.7 million.
The President of the Court of Appeal will now earn N62.4 million annually, while the justices of the Supreme Court will receive N61.4 million annually, according to the new salary structure.
Retired Supreme Court Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad previously highlighted the disparity, noting that the CJN’s N400,000 monthly salary was significantly lower than the N1.2 million earned by the Supreme Court Registrar.
