Maryam Shettima, also known as Maryam Shetty, a former ministerial candidate, expressed hope that her removal from the list of nominees wouldn’t be the end of her political career.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Friday read a letter from President Bola Tinubu requesting that the House substitute Mariya Mahmoud for Maryam Shetty.

The former nominee was told of the change on Friday while she was in the National Assembly complex for her screening.

Maryam Shetty responded in a statement on Saturday, thanking the President for appointing her before the shocking turn of events.

She claimed that the change will not lessen her growing desire to do everything in her power to serve the country.

“Even with this unexpected turn, my gratitude to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for considering me for such a prestigious position remains undiminished,” the statement says in part.

The path continues; in my opinion, this is only a first step, and even better things are yet to come. I’m more determined than ever to help my home nation of Nigeria in whatever way I can.

“I want to reassure all of my incredible supporters that this is the beginning of a new era, not the end.”
