In a significant development, the Syrian army announces its exit from a key city, reshaping the dynamics of the ongoing conflict and regional power balance.

The Syrian army has declared its retreat from the central city of Hama following intense clashes with Islamist militants.

In a Facebook statement, the Army and Armed Forces General Command reported that in recent days, national troops have “fought fierce battles” to repel and thwart the “violent and successive” attacks initiated by jihadists.

The statement indicated that the escalating conflict and increasing death toll have led the army to redeploy and reposition its units.

The decision was made “to preserve the lives of civilians” and to keep them out of battles, it emphasized.

Damascus also reported that the militants experienced “heavy losses” in their ranks during the conflict.

The army affirmed its commitment to fulfilling its national duty by reclaiming areas that have been occupied by terrorist organizations.

More information will be provided soon.
