According to Obasanjo News24, Comrade Dan Onjeh, the party’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Benue Zone C, accused him of engaging in anti-party activities, which prompted the current event.

Recall that Onjeh recently filed a petition with the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, claiming that Augustine Agada had contributed to the campaign and victory of a few PDP candidates in the previous election.

Onjeh presented evidence in the petition that purportedly involved bank transactions involving Agada and certain PDP members.

Agada, however, denied knowing about the accusation to Obasanjo News24, stating he didn’t want to get into a fight with Onjeh.

Nevertheless, the APC executives in Benue State’s Ehaje Ward 1, Owukpa, Ogbadibo Local Government Area, deliberated on the issue and then voted to remove Agada from office.

The APC Constitution was cited by the ward leadership, who provided seven reasons for Agada’s expulsion from the party.

They state, “The Ward Exco found compelling evidence of Mr. Agada working against the party’s interest in the Benue South Senatorial District during the 2023 elections, despite Mr. Agada’s failure to appear before the Ward Disciplinary Committee to address the allegations against him.”

“These anti-party activities included losing his own polling unit (Ai-Igado Ehaje 1) in the presidential, senate, and house of representatives elections; encouraging anti-party activities within the ward and campaigning for Sen. Abba Moro, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate.”

They also mentioned Agada’s purported actions to withhold the money that the national party gave the Ward for election day preparations and logistics.

They claim that the decision was made unanimously in order to discipline the party and shield the APC from Agada’s political mischievous.

“We think this is important to promote unity among party members and discourage future anti-party activities.”
