Suspected bike thief is captured by So-Safe in Ogun

Michael Olanrewaju, who is thought to be a part of a well-known robbery syndicate, has been detained by the So-Safe Corps in Ogun State.

According to So-Safe, the suspect was detained at Agbado Oke-Aro, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, at around 05:30 am on Tuesday, August 15.

According to a statement from Moruf Yusuf, a spokeswoman for So-Safe, the suspect “on several occasions escaped arrest and sometimes left injuries on law enforcement agents in the course of arresting him.”

Olanrewaju, 26, a resident of Abattoir Oju-Irin in Lagos State, according to Yusuf, “is known for snatching and stealing motorbikes and power generating sets in Ogun State.”

Yusuf revealed that the suspect, also known as Skendu, frequently made his way to Lagos following each successful robbery attempt in Ogun.

Undercover members of the corps assigned to the Agbado/Oke-Aro/Ibaragun Area Command, led by Assistant Commander Akeem Olaiya, reportedly saw the young man.

“During the initial inquiry, the offender admitted that he specialises in stealing motorbikes and power generators from the Olambe settlements and their surrounding areas in Ifo LG.

“The suspect has been transferred to the Nigeria Police, Ajuwon Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation and likely prosecution,” the statement said in its conclusion.
