Super Eagles Injury Concerns Deepen: Osimhen and Onyemaechi Sidelined for 2026 WC Qualifiers
The injury list for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin has grown with the addition of Victor Osimhen and Bruno Onyemaechi.
Osimhen, who plays for Napoli, missed training on Monday due to an injury sustained in their Serie A match against Bologna.
Napoli’s official website stated that he underwent recovery work for a muscle strain, casting doubt on his availability for their upcoming league clash against Fiorentina.

On the other hand, left-back Bruno Onyemaechi is already ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Additionally, AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is also uncertain for the two games due to an injury.
Moses Simon, Zaidu Sanusi, and Tyrone Ebuehi have already been ruled out of the qualifiers due to long-term injuries, while vice-captain William Troost-Ekong has recently returned to training after undergoing surgery following the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
