The Academic Staff Union of Universities and the National Association of Nigerian Students, Zone C, have asked the Federal Government to keep their agreement to stop more strikes.
Furthermore, the association urged the government to emphasise the importance of adequately funding the education sector.
It made the request in a statement released following its convention and election to choose new officers to run its operations for a year, which was conducted at the College of Agriculture Science and Technology in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The communique, which was signed by Kayode Adebayo and Muhammed Saba, two executive members of the communique drafting committee, also urged the federal and state governments to increase funding for security agencies in order to address the security issues that are currently preventing activities in the North Central region and the country as a whole.
