Soldiers stop an attack on the Zamfara Council’s headquarters and kill one bandit
According to sources, the forces engaged in combat while patrolling the bandits’ path through the village of Tungar Mai-Rakuma.
Armed bandits attempted to attack Anka town, the seat of Anka Local Government Area, on Monday, but Operation Hadarin Daji troops in Zamfara State prevented the attack and killed one bandit (today).
Channels Television learned that the forces engaged the bandits in a protracted fire battle for many hours after acting on intelligence about the terrorists’ plans to attack the town.
According to sources, a gunfight broke out as the forces launched a combat patrol along the bandits’ path at Tungar Mai-Rakuma hamlet in the Anka LGA.
Nevertheless, the forces overwhelmed the robbers and drove them away, killing one of them while recovering an AK-47, a motorbike, and a tonne of 7.62mm ammo.
An AK-47, a motorcycle, and many 7.62mm special rounds were found after the confrontation, according to a military source. The other bandits fled with gunshot wounds.
To arrest, eliminate, and restrict the bandits’ freedom of movement, the military have maintained their control over the general region.
