Sokoto Village Raid: Bandits Kill 1, Kidnap 4 in Gumburawa
Gumburawa village in Sokoto has been hit by a bandit attack, leading to one fatality and four kidnappings, as security concerns in the area intensify.
According to reports, Gumburawa village in Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State was the target of bandit attack resulting in one fatality and four individuals being taken hostage.
On the outskirts of Sokoto city lies a village near Usmanu Danfodio University where an incident took place during the early hours of Monday, September 9th, in the year 2024.
Fodio Abdullahi, a 300-level student of Usmanu Danfodio University, is among the victims who were kidnapped.

Local resident, Malam Sa’idu Muhammad Gumburawa – who was kidnapped by bandits in the past – reported that the attackers focused on particular homes and terrorized the area for approximately half an hour.
According to Gumburawa’s statement to Daily Trust, one person was killed and four others were abducted by the perpetrators who arrived at around midnight. Their stay lasted for approximately 30 minutes before they left the location.
According to SP Ahmed Rufa’i, the spokesperson of Sokoto State Police Command, further information will be shared once it is verified by the Divisional Police Office situated in that locality.
Residents in Sokoto State are demanding greater protection and intervention from security forces due to the rising insecurity caused by the recent attack.
