President Bola Tinubu has been requested by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo socio-cultural organisation to declare a state of emergence on the Southeast’s sit-at-home order.
Ohanaeze claimed that announcing a state of emergency would strongly tell the Southeast governors that they must now find a long-term solution to the issue.
Obasanjonews24 cites the repeated declarations of sit-at-home protests in the Southeast by Biafra activist Simon Ekpa.
The directive from Ekpa had exacerbated the turmoil in the Southeast, which had given rise to an attempt to stifle the region’s economic operations.
Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the secretary-general of Ohanaeze, responded by stating that the organisation will not permit Ekpa to ruin the Southeast’s economic activity.
In an interview with DAILY POST, Isiguzoro stated: “Desperate times call for desperate measures. We wish to reiterate our warning that Ohanaeze will not stand by and let lawbreakers wreck the Southeast’s economic activity.
“If at all feasible, a state of emergency should be established in the area where this sit-in is taking place. This is what Tinubu would do to get the Southeast governors to pay attention and come up with a viable answer.
Igbos are not prepared to participate in Ekpa’s second Biafra War, which he has launched. Tinubu has the support of the Igbo people, who will help put an end to this uprising.
“Ekpa’s actions are an effort to split the Igbos, and we are puzzled as to why Peter Obi and the others are not conversing. We hope that there is no plot against the president here.
