Shocking: Tea vendor kills youth over stolen bread

A tea vendor has killed a 20-year-old boy for allegedly stealing bread. Discover the details of this tragic incident and ongoing investigations.

Abdulrashibu Ya’u, a 40-year-old tea vendor has been apprehended by the Police in Jigawa State for reportedly causing the death of a boy through physical assault within Dutse Local Government.

According to a resident who spoke with OBASANJONEWS, the occurrence occurred at Sararai village in Dutse Local Government area around 05:00 pm on Monday.

According to him, the boy was accused of stealing bread, milk, noodles and petrol by the tea vendor who then proceeded to lock him up and violently strike him with a stick.

According to the source, “The boy’s voice could be heard crying for assistance by neighbors, but they were unable to enter the house as the perpetrator had locked all entryways.”

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a police spokesperson, verified the occurrence to OBASANJONEWS.

He stated that a tea seller named Abdulrashibu Ya’u from the village of Sararai in Jigawar Tsada town, Dutse local government council received information from the village head. The report claimed that Ya’u beat Hassan Garba to death at their shared address on suspicions he stole bread, milk, noodles and petrol.

As soon as the report was received, the patrol team quickly headed to the location. They apprehended the culprit and escorted the victim to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital without delay for urgent medical care.

Upon their arrival, the attending physician confirmed his decease. The cadaver underwent an examination and documentation process before being handed over to his loved ones for burial aligned with Islamic tradition.

According to him, the suspect confessed during an interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse that he was agitated by the deceased’s theft of his merchandise. He had even informed his parents but no action was taken which further enraged him.

He stated that after catching the deceased, he opted to bind him with a rope and proceeded to beat him using a stick.

The suspect will face full legal consequences and be arraigned in court as stated by DPS Shiisu.
