Shinkafi: “Stop posting NYSC participants to states battling banditry
Sani Shinkafi, the former chairman of the Committee on Prosecution of Bandits Related Offences in Zamfara State, gave the National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, advice on Monday not to send corps members to places where bandit attacks are rife.
According to him, the NYSC should stop sending corps members to states like Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto.
In an interview for Channels Television’s breakfast show, he made this statement.
Eight NYSC participants were kidnapped by armed bandits along a highway in Zamfara two weeks ago, according to OBASANJO NEWS24.
He stressed that the policy adopted by Lawal’s predecessor, Bello Matawalle, to engage in “peace dialogue” with the terrorists was helpful in securing the release of hostages in the state. He advised the governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, to do the same.
In Zamfara’s 14 local governments, he bemoaned, “Nowhere is safe, many people are killed, and many people are kidnapped.”
