Shi’ites Reject Alleged Plan To Kill El-Zakzaky, Wife as Abuja Experiences Massive Protest
Shi’ites, also known as members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, have taken to the streets of Abuja to protest the purported plot to assassinate Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah by preventing them from traveling overseas for medical care.
According to Naija News, Dauda Nalado led the Shiites demonstrators on Friday.
Additionally, the demonstrators expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people in their fight against Israel’s ongoing occupation of their territory.
Every year on the final Friday of the Muslim month of Ramadan, the Shi’ites hold a protest as part of the Quds day march.
Speaking, Nalado asserted that in their fight for justice and the rights of their leader and the Palestinian people, they would not be intimidated or silenced.
He added: “In fact, this sympathy and solidarity for the Palestinians was one of the motivations behind the 2015 massacre in Zaria, which aimed to kill Sheikh El-Zakzaky and dissolve the Islamic Movement.
“We denounce the ongoing invasions into the Al-Aqsa mosque and the apartheid Zionist Israel regime’s occupation of Palestine, and we stand in solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine in their righteous struggle.
“We also denounce the ongoing effort to assassinate Sheikh Zakzaky by preventing him and his wife, Muallima Zeenah, from obtaining their passports so they can travel for medical care.
