The Manchester United and England defender Luke Shaw has returned to training after a lengthy absence due to injury, the team said on Wednesday.

In preparation for Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Everton, the 28-year-old left-back has resumed full training following a “muscle issue” during the first few weeks of the season.

Due to Tyrell Malacia’s season-long injury, Shaw’s absence has created a problem at left back.

Sergio Reguilon, on loan from Tottenham, was brought in as a backup; Victor Lindelof, Sofyan Amrabat, and Diogo Dalot have also filled in.

Erik ten Hag’s team has had a turbulent start to the season, and Shaw has been missed. Shaw was a major contributor to United’s success the previous season.

They are now ranked sixth in the Premier League and are in danger of being eliminated from the Champions League after losing five of their first twelve games.

Before their journey to Goodison Park, the team is concerned about a number of additional injuries.

Prior to the international break, keeper Andre Onana sustained an injury while playing for Cameroon, adding Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund to the list of injured players.

Next week, United, who is aware that a loss would eliminate them from the competition, will visit Galatasary at the bottom of their Champions League group.
