Seun Kuti Urges African Governments to Ban Kemi Badenoch from Visiting Africa
Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti calls for a ban on UK Minister Kemi Badenoch’s visits to Africa, citing controversial remarks about her African identity and connections.
Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has called on African nations to prohibit the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, from visiting the continent due to her comments about Nigeria.
Badenoch has maintained her stance on Nigeria, despite accusations from Vice President Kashim Shettima and others who allege that she has disparaged the country.
Badenoch allegedly recounted her upbringing in Nigeria as being dominated by fear and insecurity due to the pervasive corruption in the country.
In a recent Instagram live session, Kuti advocated for the leader of the UK’s Conservative Party to be prohibited from entering Africa.
He expressed that many have been praising Kemi Badenoch, despite her having insulted not just them but also their ancestors. He noted that she had suggested they should pay Europeans for colonialism.
She believes we should compensate them for the millions of our ancestors they killed and the atrocities they committed in our lands.
“African governments should prohibit her from entering the continent, and if she does arrive in Africa, she ought to be detained immediately.”
