Senators and Service chiefs discuss the carnage in Delta in a private meeting

High-ranking military officials and members of the Senate convened in a private meeting to discuss the alarming surge of violence in Delta state, which has resulted in numerous casualties.

The Senate Joint Committee, consisting of the Army, Navy, Defence, and Airforce committees, summoned the service chiefs to appear before them on Wednesday to address the investigation into the tragic killing of 17 soldiers in a Delta State community.

The incident occurred when military personnel on a peacekeeping mission were ambushed and murdered in the Okuama community of the Ughelli South Local Government Area.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Chairman of the joint committee, Ahmed Lawan, announced that the investigative hearing would be conducted privately, behind closed doors.
