President Tinubu unveils the ₦47.9 trillion 2025 ‘Resurrection Budget,’ emphasizing security, infrastructure development, and education as key focus areas.

Security and defense, infrastructure, health care, and education were among the sectors receiving significant allocations in the N47.9 trillion Budget Proposal that President Bola Tinubu presented to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday afternoon.

“I am delighted to present the 2025 Budget of the National Assembly of Nigeria, titled ‘The Resurrection Budget,’ which focuses on security and building prosperity, to this esteemed joint session,” Tinubu announced at the conclusion of his 30-minute speech at 1:10 pm on Wednesday.

Earlier in his presentation, the President outlined several key aspects of the budget, including N4.91 trillion for defense and security, N4.06 trillion for infrastructure, N2.4 trillion for health care, and N3.5 trillion for education, among other allocations.

He emphasized that food security is non-negotiable, and added that the government is taking measures to ensure Nigerians have enough to eat and do not go hungry.

Tinubu stated that their 2025 plan is more than a mere projection of government revenue and expenditure; it serves as a call to action.

Our country is confronted with an existential threat due to corruption and insecurity. However, if we work together, these challenges can be overcome. We need to reshape the narrative of our nation.

“The period for mourning has passed. Now is the time to take action.”

Tinubu was joined at the budget presentation by George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, along with other senior government officials.

The presentation, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed to Wednesday following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
