Awarded by Sanwo-Olu With N10 million, LASU’s top graduating student

Aminat Yusuf, a graduate of the law school, earned a 5.0 overall grade point average.

Aminat Yusuf, the all-around top student at LASU, has received N10 million from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The governor made this declaration on Thursday in Lagos at the university’s 26th Convocation and 40th Anniversary.

In the academic year 2021–2022, Yusuf, a member of the Department of Law, received a diploma with a cumulative grade point average of 5.0.

Additionally, some individuals received honorary doctorates. They include the late Babatunde Fashola, the former minister of housing and works in Lagos, the late Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, and the Oba Saheed Elegushi of the Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos, among others.

In addition to receiving a doctorate in humane letters, Fashola got awards for youth empowerment, urban and rural community development, and human rights, while Fayemi received awards for national integration, African security development, and human rights.

Femi Gbajabiamila, a former House of Representatives speaker, received doctorates in law, education, community development, and women’s empowerment. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of the governor of Lagos State, received a doctorate in humane letters.

Oba Elegushi received a doctorate in arts in broadcasting, community integration, and human rights advocacy; Oba Sulaimon Raji-Ashade, the oniba of the Iba Kingdom, received a doctorate in humane letters in grassroots development; and Pastor Daniel Olukoya, the general overseer of Mountain of Fire, received a doctorate in science in genetics and biotechnology.

In total, 10,183 students from the academic years 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 graduated, with 282 receiving first-class honors. Additionally, 1,604 graduates from the university received postgraduate diplomas, academic master’s degrees, professional master’s degrees, doctor of philosophy degrees, and professional doctorates.
