Russian shelling in Kherson kills at least ten people and injures dozens more

In the southern city of Kherson on Saturday, Russian bombardment resulted in at least 10 deaths and 55 injuries.

According to Yuriy Sobolevskyi, the first deputy head of the Kherson Oblast Council, one of the missiles fell adjacent to a supermarket in the center of Kherson. The interior ministry of Ukraine said that 66 automobiles caught fire after the shelling.

In a post on Telegram on Saturday, Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, claimed that Russia is “killing for the purpose of intimidation and pleasure.”

On the president’s Telegram account, there were pictures of the strike, including burning automobiles and what appeared to be dead.

These pictures will probably be labeled as “sensitive content” on social media, Zelenskyy predicted. But this is genuine life for Ukrainians and Ukraine, not sensitive material.

In retaliation, a pro-Moscow figure claimed that Ukraine had launched the attack to place the blame on Russia.

Oleksii Reznikov, the defense minister for Ukraine, claimed in a tweet that the bombardment of Kherson’s central business district “is not just another war crime but also retaliation against its citizens who fought the occupation and demonstrated to the entire world that Kherson is Ukraine.”

Dmytro Kuleba, the foreign minister of Ukraine, pleaded with families in Europe, North America, and elsewhere to “spare a thought for Ukraine, which is currently fighting evil.”

Zelenskyy stated there are no celebrations in Ukraine this Christmas in a video address he gave Saturday night.

“It can’t be that delicious and cozy for dinner around the family table. There might be empty chairs nearby. “And it can’t be so light in our homes and streets,un he added.

But he also made the point that the Ukrainian people’s perseverance and faith make their path clear.

“Attacks, threats, nuclear blackmail, intimidation, and missile strikes were all suffered by us.” “Let’s persevere through this winter because we are aware of our goals,” he said.

According to the regional governor, Pavlo Kyrylenko, two people were killed and five others were injured in the Donetsk area on Saturday.

Lack of weapons

The British Defense Ministry said earlier on Saturday that Russia is running out of ammunition as it invades Ukraine.

Despite the reduction in immediate staffing shortages, the ministry stated in a Saturday intelligence brief that “a scarcity of munitions extremely likely remains the fundamental limiting factor on Russian offensive operations.”

Due to the restricted supply of cruise missiles, “Russia has probably reduced its long-range missile strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure to roughly once a week,” the ministry stated. It’s also unlikely that Russia’s stockpile of artillery ammunition has grown enough to support large-scale offensive operations.

The lack of weapons, according to the British Defense Ministry, exposed Russia.

It also said that Russia’s current operational plan has a weakness in that keeping defensive operations going along its long front line requires a lot of shells and rockets every day.

American aid package

An aid package worth $45 billion for Ukraine was passed by the US House of Representatives on Friday. The proposal, which is a component of a $1.66 trillion government budget plan that the Senate approved the day prior, will now be signed into law by US President Joe Biden. This aid package comes after the United States sent Ukraine money totaling roughly $50 billion earlier this year.

On December 23, 2022, lawmakers debate a $1.7 trillion federal budget bill at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., while stacks of the Congressional Record are passed around.

Following Zelensky’s visit to Washington this week, action was taken.

When Zelenskyy got back to Kyiv, he said that despite Russia’s constant artillery, rocket, and mortar fire as well as airstrikes, Ukrainian soldiers are “working toward victory.”

Zelenskyy promised on Telegram that “we will succeed in everything.” “We’re bringing something back from Washington that will truly help,”

Zelenskyy has desired Patriot missiles to help resist Russian airstrikes, which over the past three months have decimated cities, towns, and villages and cut off power and water supplies nationwide, and Zelenskyy finally got his wish.

Ten months have passed since Russia invaded Ukraine on Saturday.

Zelenskyy thanked Biden and the US Congress for helping Ukraine when it was at war with Russia.

However, according to American sources, the single Patriot battery that Biden agreed to give Ukraine will not alter the direction of the conflict.
