Six people were killed on Tuesday night in a deadly car accident on the Akure/Owo route close to the Akure Airport in Ondo State.

A Toyota Sienna space bus with the licence plate FFN-310-PU and a MAN diesel truck were both involved in the collision, which happened amid a significant downpour.

One other individual was reportedly hurt in the collision, which happened close to Akure Airport.

Sources claim that the space bus departed the well-known Benin Garage in Akure a short while before the tragedy, on its way to Edo State.

Eight people were inside the two involved vehicles at the time of the incident, according to Commander Ezekiel SonAllah of the Ondo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who confirmed the mishap.

The collision was caused by speeding and a foolish overtaking action, according to the FRSC’s preliminary investigations.

SonAllah emphasised the significance of following speed limits and following the right overtaking techniques to stop such unfortunate events.

Following the collision, numerous items were discovered at the scene, including cash and cell phones.
