Marouane Fellaini, a former midfielder for Everton and Manchester United, has declared his retirement from competition.
The 36-year-old, who participated in two World Cups and earned 87 caps for Belgium, had his international career terminated in 2019.

2008 saw Fellaini join Everton from Standard Liege. In 2013, he moved to United, and in 2019, he signed a contract to play with Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super League.
“What an amazing journey it’s been,” Fellaini wrote on social media.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have competed at the top level in the sport I love.”
It was “an honour to have played for the Belgian national team at the Olympics of 2008, Euro 2016, and the World Cups of 2014 and 2018,” Fellaini stated, adding that he was “proud” to have represented the clubs had.
He played for Everton in the Premier League for 141 games, contributing 14 assists and 25 goals.
Fellaini helped United win the FA Cup in 2016, the Europa League in 2017, and the EFL Cup in 2017. In 177 appearances in all competitions, Fellaini scored 22 goals.
