The appointment of the service heads had been approved by the Senate last Thursday.
The recent service chief appointments made by President Bola Tinubu have been approved by the House of Representatives.
Following the passage of the report from the House Ad Hoc Committee that reviewed them, they were confirmed.
Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff, and AVM Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, are the service heads who have been officially announced.
Days after the red chamber had approved the military chiefs’ appointments, the green chamber had started reviewing the service chiefs on Monday.
Julius Ihonvbere, the House Majority Leader, presided over the screening committee.
Armed Forces members were asked to cooperate by sharing intelligence, according to Babajimi Benson, the chairman of the House’s Adhoc Committee. Benson also stated that members must carefully abide by the Appropriations Act’s requirements.
He had also stated that, if they were confirmed, the National Assembly would examine the service chiefs’ performance.
On June 19, 2023, precisely three weeks after his inauguration, the President named the new service chiefs.
