The remodeling project aims to expand the complex, which currently consists of 2,330 shops, by adding more shops and modern amenities, including a car park.
Dr. Ishaya Dabari, the Commissioner of Commerce, Trade & Industry, is leading a committee responsible for overseeing the project.
The committee has identified a large vacant facility in Jimeta where traders from the shopping complex will be relocated during the renovation period.
Speaking to The Nation, Dr. Dabari emphasized the importance of upgrading the shops to meet modern standards and increasing the number of available shops to boost the state’s internal revenue.
The remodeling plan includes expanding the facilities and replacing the current one-story shops with multi-story buildings.
The commissioner revealed that work on the remodeling project will commence two weeks after the conclusion of the ongoing Ramada fast and is projected to be completed within a year.
He assured that the government is committed to meeting the one-year timeline for the project’s completion.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s urban renewal program inspired the decision to remodel the shopping complex, according to Dr. Dabari.
The initiative also aims to create space for the expansion of the road connecting the Mubi Roundabout flyover to the Police Roundabout Flyover & Interchange.
