Remains of Supreme Court Justice Nweze are received by the Enugu government
As the deceased Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Chima Centus Nweze,’s remains arrived at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu in preparation for his final burial rituals, tears flowed freely.
The late Justice’s younger (and only) brother, Prof. A. U. Nweze, the rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, his son, Barr Obumneme Nweze, a representative of the Supreme Court, and his orderly were present when the body arrived in Enugu around 10:30 am on a chartered flight.
After the body was officially handed over to the family of the dead by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, and the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah, upon arrival, the corpse was placed in a waiting hearse.
Rev Fr Collins Eziokwu made a brief prayer for the peace of his soul, as well as for his family and friends.
After that, the body was brought to the mortuary.
Others in attendance at the airport included the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Hon. Justice R. O. Ozoemena, the President of the Enugu State Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice G. C. Nnamani, the Chief Judge Emeritus of Enugu State, Hon. Justice N. P. Emehelu, and other judges of the Enugu State Judiciary, as well as the recently-retired Attorney General of Enugu State, Chief M.
As of publication, the family has not disclosed the specifics of his obsequies, although dignitaries from all across the nation flocked to the late Justice’s home to pay their condolences.
