On Tuesday, famous Nollywood actor and producer Pete Edochie will mark his 76th birthday. One of his sons, Uche Edochie, has shared why they hated their father as children.
Uche remarked that they mistakenly despised their father’s tough and firm lifestyle, which he said was intended to give value to their lives, in a post to commemorate the birthday anniversary of his father on his verified Instagram page.
Uche said of his strict father, who made sure his kids succeeded: “Isn’t it strange how we felt the exact opposite way while we were growing up? We used to despise our fathers back then because they wouldn’t let us risk our futures and lives for pleasure.
“We initially believed that they were the issue, but as we grew older, we realised that we were the issue and required a swift kick in the behind. Thank you, dad, for kicking my ass when it was necessary. I’m grateful that you were there to raise me as I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s.
Wishing my father, who celebrates 76 today, a very happy birthday. Thank you so much, Pops. A man could not ask for a better father than you. I hope today is just fantastic for you. I adore you.
