Real reason I vowed to back Peter Obi -Wike
The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his intention to provide logistical assistance for Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Obi was a previous governor, thus Wike argued that it was necessary to provide logistical assistance for him during his presidential campaign in Rivers.
Wike promised to provide logistical assistance for Obi’s presidential campaign on Friday.
The governor made this known while Obi was putting the finishing touches on a flyover in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Wike, however, cautioned Obi that the Labour Party would not succeed in securing any political office in the state.
In remarks made Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Wike asserted that Rivers State had just one political party, the PDP.
“I have no regrets in stating that I would provide logistical assistance for Obi,” he stated. He is a former governor, and if he comes to run for office here, I will assist him with the logistics.
“I must provide him with logistical assistance; I will offer him vehicles and security. And I informed him of this yesterday; Rivers does not have any other parties, thus his party will not be elected to even one post, let alone the House of Assembly. PDP, Rivers State Chapter, is the only party present.
