France football legend Marcel Desailly has voiced his support for Kylian Mbappe’s surprising decision to join the Saudi Pro League instead of making a speculated move to Real Madrid.
Mbappe, who recently experienced disappointment with Paris Saint-Germain’s exit from the Champions League, is expected to leave the club during the upcoming summer transfer window.
While Real Madrid has been considered a top contender for his signature, Desailly holds a different opinion.
Desailly emphasized the competitive environment at Real Madrid when discussing Mbappe’s potential move, suggesting that it may not be the best fit for him.

Desailly argues that with emerging talents like Vinicius and Bellingham in the team, Mbappe may not receive the spotlight he desires.
“I have already stated that I would choose a different continent. I’m not convinced that Madrid is the ideal place for him. We have Vinicius on the left side, a player who possesses quality like Bellingham, so Mbappe won’t be the undisputed number one that he desires,” Desailly expressed to beIN Sports (via talkSPORT).
“If we consider the business aspect of football, for £350 million, I would go to Saudi Arabia for a year, then return the following season – the year of the World Cup – at the age of 26 and a half, cash out, and play football. Because what does Mbappe truly want? He wants to play football.”
