Reactions have started in the wake of the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling on Thursday, which denied the petition filed by the Labour Party and Mr. Chijioke Edeoga to challenge Mr. Peter Mbah of the PDP’s election.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the Tribunal chairman, Justice Kudirat Akano, dismissed all of LP’s petitions during the hearing and confirmed Mbah’s election as the legitimate governor of Enugu State.

Due to an alleged falsification of the NYSC certificate, Edeoga’s plea sought to disqualify Mbah.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aka Eze Aka, said the verdict was expected when discussing it over the phone with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“There is enough evidence that the people voted for Mbah because you can see the joy everywhere.

“That shows that the people of the state adore him, which is why they voted overwhelmingly for him,” he remarked.

According to Aka, the victory indicates that the government will now focus on the various projects planned for the state’s development.

The judgement was hailed as a positive development by Mr. Chidi Okeke, a lawyer and steadfast member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

We didn’t anticipate anything less. It’s a good win,” he remarked.

However, Mr. Onuora Odo, the State Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, called the judgement a “sham and a pervasion of justice.”

Legal expert Odo swore that the party would undoubtedly appeal to a higher Court to seek justice.

“Our legal team will carefully review the ruling and provide advice on how to proceed.

But rest assured, he warned, “that judgement cannot stand, and we will seek justice in a higher court.”
