The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially announced that Wednesday, April 10, will be celebrated as Eid-el-Fitri day, according to a press release signed by Professor Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council.

The statement further confirmed that the council has accepted the report and formally declared Wednesday as the beginning of Shawwal 1445AH, as detailed in a press release issued in Sokoto on Monday evening.

His Eminence, the Sultan, extends his warm wishes to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, praying for Allah’s guidance and blessings upon them. He also encourages the Muslim community to continue praying for peace, progress, and development in the country, while extending Eid-el-Fitri greetings to all Muslims.

Earlier reports from DAILY POST indicated that Saudi Arabia had also announced Wednesday, April 10, as Eid-el-Fitr day, following the non-sighting of the crescent moon on Monday evening.
