The drive to collect Permanent Voter Cards has been brought to the carnival in Calabar, Cross River State, by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner for Voter Education, addressed the staff members of the commission in Calabar on Wednesday, before the start of the carnival, and stated that the commission had reached a crucial point in its preparation for the 2023 elections.

“At this time, we are offering PVC collection, and travelling to the Calabar Carnival is a part of our education programme to ensure that individuals receive their PVCs.”

“People must realise PVC’s influence.” The PVC is strong. People will not seek to purchase something if it lacks strength and potency.

“Our message to the Nigerian people is that their situation can only be changed by the PVC.” Therefore, people without PVCs have no right to participate in the electoral process. We aim to inspire every Nigerian to obtain their PVC and participate in the election.

“It is our duty to organise a credible, fair, and free election.” We have the Nigerian people’s allegiance. “We are independent of any political party,” Okoye declared.

“The time has come for us to organise the most free election on the African continent,” he said, adding that it was everyone’s obligation to organise a genuine poll. Let’s go out there and demonstrate to Nigerians that we are capable of conducting a fair election.
