Voters still need to be tallied because the final results from 25 voting places were suspended.
With more than 99% of polling places reporting, political seasoned Joseph Boakai was leading incumbent George Weah in the Liberian presidential contest by a narrow margin, according to data released on Friday.
After more than 99.5 percent of the voting places had been counted, former vice president Boakai had received 50.89 percent of the votes cast, while Weah had received 49.11 percent, according to electoral commission president Davidetta Browne Lansanah.

Voters still need to be tallied because the final results from 25 voting places were suspended.
However, political analyst Abdullah Kiatamba stated that former football great Weah’s chances of closing the deficit appeared slim.
“At this time, the numbers simply do not allow for a gain to be reversed,” he told AFP.
“To achieve this, the CDC (Weah’s party) must secure votes equal to or greater than four or five times the current trend,” Kiatamba continued.
