Police officer in Kwara assaulted by man leads to arrest

The Ogun state police command successfully eliminated five kidnappers in a fierce gun battle that took place in a forest located in Odogbolu Local Government Area.

This operation was in response to the kidnapping of Tunde Osifowokan, a poultry manager, in Idowa, Odogbolu Area of the state.

The abduction of Osifowokan was carried out by heavily armed masked gunmen who targeted the poultry farm he managed for his elder brother.

The police, under the leadership of Commissioner Abiodun Alamutu, swiftly launched a mission to track down and confront the kidnappers in their hideout.

The police force, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice, initiated a search operation immediately after receiving the report of the kidnapping.

Alamutu assured the public that the police were making significant progress in locating the kidnappers and would not rest until they were all apprehended.

In a successful operation conducted by the anti-kidnapping unit, the police raided the kidnappers’ hideout in the Odogbolu forest along the Sagamu-Benin expressway.

The ensuing gun battle resulted in the neutralization of five out of the eight kidnappers, with the remaining suspects fleeing the scene with injuries.

The police recovered various items from the kidnappers, including a substantial amount of cash suspected to be ransom money, a sword, cellphones, drugs, charms, and ammunition.

Additionally, Tunde Osifowokan was safely rescued following the confrontation, and the bodies of the deceased kidnappers were taken to the morgue.

Commissioner Alamutu emphasized the commitment of the police force to pursue the remaining suspects and ensure that they face the full consequences of their criminal actions.

He warned that those who dared to challenge the authority of the police in the state would face severe repercussions, reinforcing the resolve of law enforcement to maintain peace and security in the region.
