A 30-year-old man named Jeffrey has been taken into custody by the Rivers State Police Command on suspicion of defiling his landlady’s 13-year-old daughter at an estate in Abuloma, the state’s Port Harcourt Local Government Area.

The youngster was allegedly enticed to the suspect’s business location one evening under the pretense of revealing her clothes by the man, who has a tailoring shop on the estate.

However, Jeffrey reportedly raped the girl after overpowering her and locking up the store.

The Trans-Amadi Police Division personnel detained the culprit last Friday after the adolescent girl confided in her mother about what had happened.

According to a source who gave Punch confirmation of the occurrence, the minor’s medical examination revealed she had been defiled.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, a spokesman for the state police command, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that an investigation was still underway.

“Yes, I am able to verify the suspect’s arrest. The State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Port Harcourt, has taken over the case for a covert investigation, the spokesperson stated.

The PPRO added, “To discourage others, the command will see to it that the suspect is prosecuted.”
