In a statement provided to Obasanjonews24, the command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the occurrence.

He said that the occurrence took place on Tuesday, December 2, 2022, at around 2350 hours, after suspicions that Balaraba Shehu, 30, of Tsurma Village in Kiyawa LGA, had given birth and buried the newborn infant alive.

Shiisu claimed that after receiving the information, a team of police officers mobilized and headed to the crime scene.

According to him, officers unearthed the newborn infant who had been buried in the toilet as soon as they arrived.

Shiisu said that when the culprit was taken into custody, a doctor at General Hospital Dutse pronounced the infant dead.

He said that a preliminary inquiry resulted in the detention of Amadu Sale, 25, of Akar Village, Kiyawa LGA, who was suspected of being the cause of the unintended pregnancy.

However, the suspects planned together and buried the newborn after birth.
