ASP Caleb Leramo, the Police Prosecutor, told the court that the defendant had committed the offence in Orun-Ekiti on December 24 at around 9:00 a.m.
According to him, the complainant, Ajibade Gbenga, had three tiger generators at his store that were stolen by the defendant, valued at approximately N300,000.
He said that the offence violated Ekiti State’s 2021 Criminal Law’s sections 324(1) and (2).
In order to review the case file and gather his witnesses, he begged the court to postpone the hearing.
Despite not having a lawyer, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to the charge that was presented against him.
He was granted bail in the amount of N50,000 with one surety in the same amount by Chief Magistrate Saka Afunso, who also postponed the case to January 8 for a hearing.
